Recently, Latri ask me to join a giveaway contest she made. She is asking her blog visitor to review her english and make some corrections in her posts. The prize it self might not be interesting for a man :) Yup, they are a pair of sandals and a blouse made of batik. I never wear a blouse, and I’m surely never plan to do so.

I never really care about mistakes in writing. Hey, it’s a blog… right? People make mistakes in writing blogs. Typo, spelling, and grammar are very common mistakes. When you go pro, you’ll have an editor to correct those mistakes. So as a blogger, mistakes make blogs have more personal touch. As long as your readers understand what’s your point, they never really a problem. I know some great theme creator, plugins creator writes quite a poor english. Not that mine is great, but what they provide is greater than just some little grammar and spelling mistakes. Well that’s my opinion.

Back to Latris blog. She’s writing posts in two languages. Indonesian and english. I never found a bilingual blog before. So i think this is quite original. No, I’m too lazy to do so. I’m not going to write mine in two languages. I’ll patiently wait until Google language tools can translate my blog decently. I always think about writing blog in english for most blogger is about getting wider market. Yes, I’am talking about adsense and other monetizing tools. While I don’t believe in adsense, I think writing in english will give me another benefit. It’s a writing practice. Writing in english is a good practice to learn english. When you get stuck, you’ll take a look to a dictionary, enhancing your vocab. Checking your spelling once in a while. But when I read Latris blog, it’s a bit surprise that many commentators are not from Indonesia! The discussions are warm and friendly. Well, it’s kind of kicking me in the head and make me remember one of the most important thing about blogging. Get some new friends from blogoshpere, and that is priceless!

I do have several blogs and make new friends from them. Especially from my baby, TentangCAD. I also a guest blogger in my friend blog. I did suggest people to write for their passion, and not for financial benefit only. I think it’s a bit ashame that I missing that point in writing blogs in english. May be because I never plan or expect to have friends outside of Indonesia.

So will I be writing blogs in English? I believe I will write more in English. But not for every post. Thanks to Latri, to encourage me more to write in English!
